Longevity of Spontaneous Hypertensive Rat-Stroke Prone Rats (SHR-SP)

Abstract

SHR-SP rats are genetically inhered animals developing hypertension and stroke-prone and die before approximately 6 month-old. Using SHR-SP animal model, three Indonesian indigenous herbal medicines were investigated for effective prolongation of life. Noni juice and Extra Virgin Coconut Oil revealed statistically significance in longevity compared with each control. Buah Merah oil showed a tendency of longer life than the control.
